SCC Secures 20th Win of Season with Win over Irvine Valley

With the victory, the Hawks secured their 20th win on the season. Since the program's inception, SCC has won at least 20 games every season. The Hawks are looking to build momentum heading into the California State Playoffs next week. As mentioned, the Hawk were on fire. They finished the first half 20 for 28 from the field and 8 for 16 from the three-point line on their way to a 49-24 lead at intermission. They were a perfect 12 for 12 from inside the arc for the half. SCC had 8 players score in the half, with Josh Griffin (12 points) and Erik Howlin (10 points) leading the way. Howlin also dished out 3 assists in the half. Harrison Wiese led the team in rebounding at half with 5 boards.
SCC didn't let up in the second half and maintained their lead throughout. Irvine Valley made a late run to get the point spread under 20 points, but it was not enough to make a late comeback. The Hawks finished the game shooting 61.7% from the field, including 45.8% from distance. They connected on 11 three-pointers for the game as well. Howlin did his damage throughout the game and led all scorers with 24 points on a variety of drives and three's. He also snared 7 rebounds to share a team-high in the category with Griffin. Griffin finished with 14 points, David Agba scored 12 points, and Harrison Wiese added 10 points.
Santiago Canyon will host 2 games this week as part of rescheduled games from earlier in the season. The Hawks will host Fullerton on Wednesday at 4pm and Orange Coast College on Friday at 4pm. SCC's overall record is now 20-5 on the season and 10-4 in the Orange Empire Conference.
