Hawks Soar over Rustlers for 114-59 Victory

Santiago Canyon College was looking to get back in the winning column this week while traveling to Huntington Beach to take on the Rustlers of Golden West. The Hawks started strong, finished strong, and came away with a 114-59 victory. SCC scored on their first possession of the game and never looked back. They relied on their tenacious defense and hot shooting to secure the win. With the win, Santiago Canyon improves their record to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
The team pushed pace on every possession throughout the first half. They connected on 9 of 22 three-point attempts while assisting on 13 of their 14 made field goals. Aaron Wadman led the way with 12 points. Adam Holod chipped in with 9 and Harrison Wiese scored 8 points. Kai Smith grabbed 5 rebounds in the half. The score at the half was 52-23.
The second half started the same way as the first with the Hawks scoring and controlling the game. SCC was scorching hot from three in this half as they made 8 of 12 from distance. They finished the game 17 of 34 from beyond the arc. Leading the way in scoring was Zach Ibbetson with 17 points. Wadman finished with 16, Wiese with 15, and Holod with 13. Other double digit scorers were Dane Kiefer with 13 points and Elijah Cirilo with 10 points. Jason Naranjo connected on 3 three-pointers to finish with 9 points. Wadman led the team in rebounding with 8 and also had a team high 6 assists.
The Hawks will travel to Irvine on Friday to play Irvine Valley College in their second game of the week. SCC will look to continue its winning ways as they take on the Lasers. Tip-off for the game will be at 7:00pm.
