About our Program
Santiago Canyon College Basketball
The Men's Basketball Program at Santiago Canyon College was established in 2017. Our program's motto is "Class Act". We represent our college and community in a manner to be proud and respected. Our basketball family builds relationships with faculty, staff, students, and teammates that last a lifetime. Our program has quickly established itself as one of the top community college basketball programs in California. The basketball players are respectful, work hard on and off the court, and strive to be the best at all times.
Season Records
In our first season of competition (2017-18), the team had an overall record of 22-9. The team started the season 8-0 and were ranked #1 in the state according to the Massey Rating. They finished in third place in the Orange Empire Conference and advanced in the state playoffs to the Southern California Regional Finals. In the 2018-19 season, the team finished 20-9 and finished in second place in the OEC. They advanced to the Southern California Regional Semi-Finals in the state playoffs. In the 3rd year of the program, the Hawks season was cut short by concerns regarding the coronavirus. The team's record was 28-2 at the time the season was cancelled. They were ranked #1 in Southern California and had just advanced to the State Championships in Leemore, CA. The 2019-20 team won their first Orange Empire Conference Championship with a conference record of 14-2.

Facilities
Santiago Canyon College has some of the finest facilities amongst all community colleges in California. The gymnasium is state of the art with 3 full courts and 4 baskets on each court for plenty of shooting opportunities. The program has many tools to improve each player's skills including a Vertimax Machine and a Dr. Dish Shooting Machine. The weight room, located across the hallway from the gymnasium, has a variety of equipment to enhance our players strength and conditioning. These include free weights, treadmills, ellipticals, olympic racks and platforms along with many other machines.
Academics
Academically, Santiago Canyon College offers a quality education for a minimal cost. The cost per unit is $46, which equates to $552 per semester for full-time students. However, tuition is free for 2020 high school graduates with our Promise Scholarship, regardless of financial situation, for two years. Click on the link for details. Through our various academic programs, students are able to earn an Associate Degree for Transfer to UC's, Cal State's, and private 4-year colleges and universities. SCC offers degrees with automatic admission to 4-year universities. Student-Athletes will meet with our athletic academic counselor and create an academic plan that is best suitable for them. Honors programs, teacher programs, and technical programs are available as well. The campus is beautifully set in the foothills of Orange with new facilities, a caring staff, and an abundance of opportunities for students to succeed.
