Bio

Head Coach Todd Dixon has been the head coach at Santiago Canyon College for 5 years.  This will be the 4th full season after an 8 game exhibition season last year during the Covid Pandemic. He is the founding head coach for the men's basketball program which was started in 2017-18. This is his 33rd year of coaching basketball.

In the last full season (2019-20), the team was ranked #1 in Southern California, finished the season 28-2, and won the Orange Empire Conference.  Their season was cut short due to concerns regarding the coronavirus.  The team had just defeated Cerritos in the Southern California Regional Finals and advanced to the State Finals when the season abruptly came to an end without the opportunity to play for the state championship. SCC has quickly established themselves as a top program in the state.  In just 3 full seasons, Coach Dixon has compiled an overall record of 70-20 for a .778 winning percentage.  With the 28 wins in 2019-20, it marks the third consecutive year to win 20 games or more. Along with the accomplishments of the 2019-20 team, Coach Dixon was named Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year.

Prior to arriving at Santiago Canyon, Coach Dixon spent 21 years coaching varsity basketball at El Toro High School.  His coaching career began at Santa Margarita High School where he was an assistant varsity coach and lower level head coach for five years.  The following two seasons, he was the assistant men's basketball coach at Vanguard University, formerly known as Southern California College, under the direction of legendary coach, Bill Reynolds.

As the varsity head coach at El Toro High School, his teams proved to be very successful averaging over 21 wins per season.  The varsity basketball team's record during his tenure was 449-158.  The varsity team won 10 league championships, including 3 Sea View League championships and 7 South Coast League championships.  El Toro was CIF Finalists three times under his direction.  In 2013, Coach Dixon was named Orange County Register Coach of the Year.  He was a member of the CIF Basketball Advisory Committee and SCIBCA Executive Board during his high school coaching tenure.

As a basketball player growing up in Orange County, Todd graduated from Ocean View High School in Huntington Beach in 1984.  Todd continued his playing career at Vanguard University, formerly known as Southern California College, where he was a two-time Academic All-American, as well as an Honorable Mention NAIA All-American.  He was named to the Golden State Athletic Conference First Team his junior and senior years.  Todd graduated Magna Cum Laude with his Bachelor's Degree in 1988 from Southern California College.  He continued his education by earning his Master's Degree in Education from Azusa Pacific University.

The program has a "Class Act" philosophy.  Coach Dixon's teams represent the SCC administration, faculty, staff, and community in a positive manner.  Coach Dixon and his wife, Katie, along with their 20 year-old son, Jack, and their 18 year-old daughter, Kaitlin, reside in Lake Forest.  He is extremely grateful for his wonderful and supportive family.
