Hawks Win Series over Orange Coast

The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team swept at double header at Orange Coast College on Friday to win the overall series 3-1.  In game one of the day, the Hawks walked away with a 6-4 win before defeating the Pirates 7-5 in game two of the day.

Hailey Guillen had a big day both offensively and defensively for SCC.  She picked up the win in the circle in game one throwing a complete game, surrendering 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5.  Offensively, Guillen was 6-for-8 on the day, making her 11-for-15, (.733 batting average) in the series against the Pirates.

Samantha Villanueva (3-for-8) continued her hot streak with 4 clutch RBI's at the plate in game one alone.  Adriana Martinez (3-for-6) hit .500 for the day with a double, HBP, Sacrifice Bunt, a stolen base and two runs scored.  Alyssa Yslas went 4-for-7 on the day with a Sacrifice Bunt, an RBI, and 2 runs scored.  Alex Molina was 2-for-5 with 3 Sacrifice Bunts, 2 RBI's and a run scored.  Alicia Fitzgerald came off the bench for a clutch pinch hit in the 7th inning of Game 2 and drove a single up the middle for the decisive two runs to score. 

Scarlett Adams threw a complete game victory in Game two.  She surrendered just two earned runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 2 strikeouts improving her overall record to 2-2.  

The Hawks return to action this week with a 4 Game Series against Fullerton College.  The first double header will be played at Santiago Canyon College on Wednesday with the first game scheduled to start at 1pm and game two immediately following.
