Tara Hansel grabbed a late goal to lead the Hawks to a 2-1 victory at sister school Santa Ana College. The well-coached hosts came in to the contest with a perfect 6-0 record, having only conceded one goal so far this season, and it was they who scored first around the 20 minute-mark. The Hawks responded quickly with Gigi Soto threading in Brianna Diaz who coolly finished from just inside the area.
SCC upped the tempo, and the pressure after the break, but mid-way through the half the Dons could have scored again direct from a free-kick. Emily Diplock was on hand to make a fine save in goal. Diaz was unlucky not to put the Hawks ahead, but with the keeper beaten, her looping effort was cleared off the line. As the clock ticked down, it fell to Hansel to make the difference and her goal proved the winner.
The Hawks play next at home to Golden West College on Friday, October 4th at 3pm. Thanks to all those who came out to cheer on SCC today.
