The hosts took the lead around the 20 minute-mark converting a far-post cross. SCC responded well with Tara Hansel, Ceci Roghair and Brianna Diaz all going close. Ashley Dart hit the upright, but the Hawks could not find a way past the talented Roadrunners keeper before the break.
SCC continued to push in the second period, with Alex Vanous, Diaz and Emma Carton all having good looks at goal but it wasn't until the 77th minute that the Hawks broke through. Diaz found Hansel who took a touch before slotting past the keeper to tie the score. Four minutes later, the Hawks grabbed the lead. Hansel struck, the keeper parried, and Chloe Helenihi was on hand to tuck home the rebound. The Hawks closed out the game comfortably to record their third win of the season.
SCC play next at Antelope Valley College on Tuesday, September 24th at 5pm. Thanks to all those travelling Hawks fans who braved the heat to cheer on the team today.
