Hawks Defeat Dons 137-86 in Conference Game

In their first home game since December 17, 2021, Santiago Canyon College displayed an impressive offensive showing with a 137-86 win over Santa Ana College. The 137 points were the second most points scored by an SCC team in school history. The record of 138 was set on November 3, 2017 in SCC's inaugural season vs. El Camino. The Hawks scored the first basket of the game on a three-pointer by David Agba and never looked back. SCC scored early and often to lead 69-41 at the half. The first half was dominated by hot shooting guard Josh Griffin. Griffin scored 24 points, including 4 three-pointers and made all 6 of his free throws. Agba scored 13 points, while Erik Howlin chipped in with 12.
The second half was much the same as the Hawks scored 68 points to finish with 137 on the night. Howlin scored 18 points in the half and led the team in scoring with a total of 30 points on the night. Griffin finished with 28 points. Aaron Wadman added 25 points, Agba scored 22, and Bradley Burdick contributed 18 points. The Hawks connected on 17 three-pointers in 37 attempts, and were an impressive 36 for 38 from the free throw line. Agba was one assist shy of a triple-double as he finished with a career high 17 rebounds and 9 assists to go with his 22 points. Drew Yezbak added 10 points to give SCC six players in double figures.
Santiago Canyon will be back in action on Friday as they travel to Irvine to play Irvine Valley College. The Hawks, currently ranked 4th in the state, are looking to keep their momentum as they have returned from a month-long layoff with two victories. Tip-off is set for 5pm.
