SCC Gets Road Win at Santa Ana College

Santiago Canyon played on the road at Santa Ana College on Tuesday night in another Orange Empire Conference game. This was the team's second meeting of conference play. SCC won the first matchup at home. The Hawks won this meeting by the score of 91-80. Santiago Canyon jumped out to an early lead, but the Dons chipped away and kept the game within single digits for most of the first half. After an end of first half buzzer beater by Santa Ana, SCC led 45-41. The Hawks didn't shoot well in the first half connecting on only 6 of 21 from the three-point line and also only managed one free throw for the half. They did have three players score in double digits in the half. David Agba, Harrison Wiese, and Bradley Burdick all scored 10 points. Agba also grabbed five rebounds in the first half.
SCC played well early in the second half and jumped out to a double digit lead. Santa Ana made a run midway through the half, but couldn't get within striking distance before the Hawks built the lead back up. Six players ended up in double digits for SCC. Agba finished with a game-high 21 points. Drew Yezbak scored a total of 16 points with 13 of them in the 2nd half. Wiese finished with 13 points and Burdick finished with 12. Matt Williams had a huge impact on the game with 12 points with 4 three-pointers. Preston Sims rounded out the leading scorers with 10 points. The Hawks only shot 31% from distance, but managed to grab 15 offensive rebounds to help solidify the offensive efficiency for the game. Wiese led all players with 9 rebounds, while Erik Howlin led all players with 6 assists.
The Hawks will be back in action on Thursday as they host Irvine Valley College. Game time is at 4pm. With tonight's win, SCC now has an 18-5 overall record and an 8-4 record in conference play.
