Hawks Get 400th Program Win
The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team defeated Cypress College on Friday by a score of 1-0. Stella Turner picked up win number 20 in the circle throwing a 7-inning shutout while holding the Chargers to only 3 hits.
The Hawks lone run came in the top of the 3rd inning. Adriana Martinez hit a one-out triple down the right field line. Alyssa Yslas then drove her in with an RBI single. The Chargers only threat came in the bottom of the 4th when they were able to string 2 hits together and have runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs, but Turner was able to induce a groundball to work out of the inning.
The win marks the 400th win for both Lisa Camarco and the Hawks program overall. Camarco started the program in 2007 and has since led the Hawks to one of the premier teams in the CCCAA. She has won the Conference and the CCCAA State Championship, she has received honors as the OEC Coach of the Year, OEC Female Sports Coach of the Year, and NFCA Coaching Staff of the Year.
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday against Orange Coast College at 3pm. Come out early to see our "Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day" ceremony!
