Mt Sac Invitational
On Friday, October 15th, The Santiago Canyon College Cross Country Teams competed within a field of 19 community college teams at the Mt. SAC Invitational held at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut.
The SCC men's cross country team placed 7th overall as they earned victories against Chaffey, College of the Canyons, College of the Desert, East Los Angeles, Fullerton, Golden West, Norco, Oxnard, Pasadena, San Diego City, Santa Barbara, and Santa Monica. The Running Hawks were led by freshman team captain Joshua Maguire who placed 48th within the field of 136 competitors and recorded a time of 24 minutes and 13 seconds over the notoriously hilly 4-mile men's course. Nick Villalobos (53rd place, 24:26), Jesus Retiguin (64th place, 25:00), Nathan Fisher (68th place, 25:08), Brandon Dominguez (74th place, 25:25), Joshua Aguilera (91st place, 26:35), and Mason French (94th place, 26:53) rounded out the scoring unit for the Running Hawks.
The Lady Hawks were represented in the competition by a freshmen duo of individual competitors. Kassie Machado led the way for the Lady Hawks as she placed 33rd within the field of 70 runners and recorded a time of 21 minutes 59 seconds over the challenging 3-mile women's course. Annelise Castillo placed 64th overall with a finish time of 29 minutes 19 seconds.
The Hawks cross country program will next compete on Friday, October 22nd, at the CSUF Titan Invitational in Fullerton.
