Santa Ana Tournament Game #2: Hawks Soared over the Panthers
The Hawks played Chaffey in the championship game of the Santa Ana Tournament on Saturday Night and came out victorious.
The Hawks played Chaffey in the championship game of the Santa Ana Tournament on Saturday Night and came out victorious. The game was close throughout the first half as both teams shot 40% from the 3-point line. The score at the half was 39-39. SCC's Paulo Araujo was 4 for 4 from deep and scored 14 points in the half.
With some defensive adjustments in the 2nd half, the Hawks took control of the game and finished with an 86-74 victory. Araujo continued his hot shooting converting 7 3's in the game on 8 attempts, while finishing with a team-high 29 points. Antoine Jenkins chipped in with 22 points, AJ Garrity scored 14 points, and David Agba finished with 11 points. Agba also had a team-high 7 rebounds and 6 assists. After the game, Assistant Coach, Tom McCanna, said, "David played a great all-around game contributing on both sides of the court. Paul Vilela was critical to our defense with 3 steals, and it's always fun watching Paulo get hot from 3."
The Hawks are now 2-0 to start the season. They will play twice this coming week. On Wednesday, they will travel to San Diego to play at Mira Costa College at 6:00pm. The 2nd game will be SCC's home opener on Friday, November 8th as they host Cerritos College at 5:00pm.
