Hawks Continue Win Streak
The Santiago Canyon College Softball team has now won 4 games in a row with a 9-2 victory over Cerritos College on Friday.
The Santiago Canyon College Softball team has now won 4 games in a row with a 9-2 victory over Cerritos College on Friday. The Hawks saw themselves down 1-0 early in the game after surrendering a leadoff homerun, but came back to tie up the game 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning. Cozette Zoch led off the bottom of the second with a double and came around to score on an RBI single from Dana Demo.
A walk and a double allowed the Falcons to take the lead once again in the top of the third, however the Hawks would then lock it down making it the last run Cerritos would score for the remainder of the game. Alyssa Enriquez was walked to leadoff the bottom of the third inning. She then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Isabelle Valdez reached on a single and both runners moved up to third on a wild pitch, bringing Liliana Navarro to the plate. Navarro, hitting .727 on the year, was intentionally walked to load the bases. Samantha Villanueva then drove a bases clearing triple to give the Hawks the lead.
The Hawks added 5 more runs in the fourth inning with a 2 RBI single from Sabrina Rivera that plated Amiah Rivas and Alyssa Enriquez. Cozette Zoch added 2 more runs with a double off the top of the left field fence, and Samantha Villanueva added the Hawks final run on a sacrifice fly that scored pinch runner Noelle Fisher.
