Hawks Walk Off in the 8th Against Dons

The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team defeated district counterpart, Santa Ana College 1-0 in 8 innings to open up Orange Empire Conference play with a win. The Hawks have now won 5 straight to extend their win streak.
Mystique Rocha recorded the win for the Hawks today, improving her overall record to 6-2 on the year. She held the Dons offense to just 7 hits while shutting them out. Rocha posted 6 strikeouts in the circle.
Offensively, the Hawks scattered 6 hits, with Alyssa Enriquez leading the way with 2 hits on the day. In the bottom of the 8th inning, Enriquez reached on a base hit to left. Noelle Fisher came into to run for Enriquez. Liliana Navarro advanced Fisher to second base. Cozette Zoch was then intentionally walked brining Samantha Villanueva to the plate. With 2 outs and runners on first and second, Villanueva crushed a line drive to right field that plated Fisher and sealed the 1-0, 8-inning victory.
