Hawks Now 2-0 in Conference Play
The Hawks added another win yesterday with an 8-1 decisive victory over Saddleback College.
The Hawks added another win yesterday with an 8-1 decisive victory over Saddleback College. The wins improves their overall record to 9-4, while starting out conference play with a perfect 2-0 record. The Hawks got on the board early plating a run in the first inning. Alyssa Enriquez drew a walk and then advanced to second on a base hit from Lili Navarro. Both Navarro and Enriquez moved up to second and third on a wild pitch, allowing Enriquez to score on a sacrifice fly from Cozette Zoch.
The Hawks tacked on 6 additional runs in the bottom of the fourth inning with a double from Cozette Zoch, and singles from Isabelle Valdez, Amiah Rivas, and RBI singles from Samantha Villanueva, Dana Demo, Liliana Navarro, and a bases loaded Hit By Pitch for Sabrina Rivera.
Saddleback was able to push 1 run across in the 6th with the Hawks responding once again in their half of the inning. After a leadoff walk to Amiah Rivas, Sabrina Rivera drove a double in the left center gap. Rivas later scored on a sacrifice fly ball from Lili Navarro, her 3rd RBI on the day.
Mystique Rocha notched another win in the circle making her the leading pitcher in the state in wins. She struck out 8 Gaucho hitters while surrendering just 1 run on 6 hits.
