Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Compete at Tour de Cuesta
The Santiago Canyon College men's and women's cross country squads hit the trails to kick off their 2023 campaigns last Friday at the Tour de Cuesta.
Men
All four competitors for the Hawks landed in the top 30. Leading the pack was Johan Chan Espejo wo clocked in a time of 25:39 to earn 13th place.
Freshman Nicholas Villalobos landed just outside of the top-10 with a 22nd place finish with a. time of 26:43.6. Christopher Selevos followed with a 27:04.2 time to land in 23rd place, while sophomore Jacob Hallahan landed in 26th place with a final clip reading 28:13.2.
Women
Amabelle Olmedo was the most dominant force in the program on Friday with a ninth-place finish. She clocked in a time of 23:30.1 with a 7:33.8 average mile time. She was one of three Orange Empire Conference (OEC) competitors to land in the top-10.
Selah Darden landed just outside the top-20 with a 23rd place showing at a time of 35:24.1.
The Hawks will continue action on Friday, September 1 as they will compete in the Vanguard Invitational.
