Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Stick to Race Plan at Vanguard Invitational
The Santiago Canyon College women's and women's cross country teams competed in the 32nd Annual Vanguard Invitational on Friday morning. Both sides competed at a high level by sticking to the race plan and executing their gameplan leading to a strong finish.
Jose Chan Espejo led the Hawks on the men's side with an overall mark of 30:52.2 leading to a top-25 finish at 24th overall. His running mate, Nicholas Villalobos, followed shortly behind in 26th placed and crossed the finish line at a time of 31:53.1.
Jacob Hallahan placed inside the top-30 with a 28th-place mark at a clip of 33:17.7 to round out the competitors.
For the second-straight meet, Amabelle Olmedo paced the women's side with a top-15 finish. She crossed the finish line at a time of 21:53.7 to haul in 14th-place. Additionally, she was one of three top finishers to represent the Orange Empire Conference (OEC). Selah Darden finished with a mar of 34:04.0.
