Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Compete in SoCal Preview
The Santiago Canyon College Hawks cross country program had its first true test against fellow 3C2A competitors this morning in the Southern California Preview meet hosted in Long Beach, CA. The Hawks saw multiple personal best times once again as they continue to improve.
Men
The men's side featured a full five-man scoring squad leading to a 19th place finish. Sophomore Johan Chan Espejo paced the pack with a time of 22:44.3 leading to a top-100 finish. It is the third-consecutive meet that he has grasped the reigns for the Hawks.
Sophomore Nicholas Villalobos cruised to a 23:16.5 mark, while sophomore Christopher Selevos followed with a 23:18.5 time.
Sophomore Jacob Hallahan pocketed a time of 24:18.0 clip, while freshman Trevor Wong brought up the back with a mark of 26:23.3.
Women
The women rolled out two solid runners with freshman Amabelle Olmedo continuing to shine. She placed 40th overall after crossing the finish line at a time of 20:58.9. Sophomore Selah Darden finished it out for SCC with a mark of 29:29.7.
