Men’s Cross Country Places Second at Downey XC Classic, Darden Notches top-40 Finish
The Santiago Canyon College cross country program hit the road Friday morning to compete in the Coach Downey Classic in San Diego, CA. The men experienced their highest finish of the season landing second on the podium, while one women's competitor held down the fort.
Men
The Hawks placed second overall with a score of 75 points behind Cerritos. They edged out San Diego City, East Los Angeles, Crafton Hills and College of the Desert.
Two runners finished inside the top-15 with freshmen Christoher Selevos pacing the pack. He placed 14th overall with a mark of 24:03.9. Freshman Johan Chan Espejo followed with a 15th place finish at a clip reading 24:24.7.
Freshman Nicholas Villalobos was just behind in 16th place with a time of 24:37.4. Freshman Jacob Hallahan rounded out the top-25 with a time of 26:02.3, while freshman Trevor Wong rounded out the runners with a time of 27:18.3.
Women
Freshman Selah Darden was the lone competitor for the Hawks. She placed 40th with a time of 29:11.0.
