Beach Volleyball Swept by Cypress

The Santiago Canyon College beach volleyball team continues to struggle in its first year of action as they faced the Cypress College Chargers in Long Beach, CA on Friday morning. The Hawks dropped all five sets leading to a 5-0 defeat.

Freshman duo Peyton Speakman and Laisha Hochstrasser held down the top spot for the Hawks and battled to a close set score in the first, but lost 21-19. They followed with a 21-12 loss in the second set.

Freshman tandem Sophie Ziglinski and Chelsea Riedel occupied the second slot, but were finished in the sets with the final scores reading 21-14, 21-13.

Sophomore Roxanne Costello and freshman Ashlyn Smith battled in the third position and reached 16 points in both sets, but were bested in the end. Freshman tandem Nicole Rodriguez and Gabrielle Handfield rounded out the match in the fourth slot, but fell 21-10, 21-15.
