Niloofar Mojab Named Women’s Beach Volleyball Head Coach
After a successful inaugural season for the women's beach volleyball team last spring, the Hawks are poised to continue their competitive momentum under new leadership. The program has named Niloofar Mojab as its new head coach for women's beach volleyball.
Mojab, a seasoned coach with experience at both the collegiate and high school levels, brings a wealth of expertise to the program.
"We are excited to add her to the Hawk's athletic family," said Dean and Athletic Director Martin Stringer. "She has proven herself to be a prominent volleyball coach and we have no doubt she will raise the profile of our beach volleyball program."
She takes the reins of the Hawks' beach volleyball team after two successful years leading the Fullerton women's volleyball program (2022-2023). Since 2020, Mojab has also served as the head coach for the women's volleyball and women's beach volleyball teams at Rosary Academy.
"I am excited to step into this role and return to the Orange Empire Conference, this time as the leader of the Hawks," said Mojab. "With SCC beach volleyball still in its early stages, I am fully committed to elevating the program and establishing it as a competitive force among top community colleges."
Born in Shiraz, Iran, and raised in Tehran, Mojab's athletic journey began at the age of nine, when she started competing in the high jump. By 14, she became the youngest athlete in the history of Iran's Track & Field to qualify for the national team. She was ranked among the top five high jumpers in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships and No. 2 in the Middle East by age 15.
At 17, Mojab transitioned to volleyball, competing for over eight years in the Women's Premier League as a middle blocker and opposite hitter. After immigrating to the United States, she briefly returned to Iran to fulfill her athletic commitments, which led to an invitation to join Iran's National Volleyball Team at 19. She played for the national team for two years.
In 2014, Mojab returned to the United States and began her career as a certified volleyball official. She began officiating for the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) in 2017 and continues to officiate for clubs, high schools, and at the collegiate level. In the summer of 2021, she earned her Junior National Certificate from USA Volleyball, which allows her to officiate in Division I conferences like the Pac-12 and Big West.
