Santiago Canyon was riding high from their last second winning shot over Cerritos last week entering their game tonight at Santa Ana. Unfortunately, the Hawks weren't ready for the Dons as they lost 70-80 in their lowest scoring output of the season. SCC got down early and struggled to take the lead, which they did at the 6:07 mark of the first half. Santa Ana responded and went into halftime with a 38-31 lead. Aaron Wadman once again led the way in scoring with 12 in the half and Dane Kiefer chipped in with 9 points.
Santa Ana was able to maintain a 5-9 point lead for most of the second half, but the Hawks cut it to 3 with 2 minutes to go in the game. They couldn't capitalize on their momentum as several players fouled out and a couple exited with injuries in the half. The Dons finished the game on a high note to win by ten points. Wadman finished with 27 points and Kiefer ended with 14 points as the only double digit scorers for SCC. Harrison Wiese led the way in rebounding with 6 boards.
SCC will be back in action on Friday as they host Fullerton College. Tip-off is set for 6pm. SCC's record drops to 10-5 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
