SCC, still stinging from their upset loss to Santa Ana, had a tough time getting going on offense in their game with Fullerton College. The Hornets entered the game 3-0 in conference play and came out strong, while the Hawks struggled to score early and get stops. At the half, Fullerton held a 43-33 lead. SCC had balanced scoring in the half, but nobody scored in double digits. As a team they connected on 4 of 11 three point shots and 7 for 11 from the free throw line.
The first half woes continued for the Hawks in the second as they couldn't string together a long enough run to get within a possession or two of Fullerton. SCC did manage to cut the lead to 7 points around the 10 minute mark of the half, but the Hornets immediately responded by forcing some turnovers and converting easy baskets. The final score was the largest lead of the game as Fullerton came away with a 101-76 win. The Hawks' leading scorers were Aaron Wadman (16 points), Isaiah Arthurton (14 points), and Kai Smith (10 points). Wadman also led the way with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
SCC will look to respond to back to back losses this week as they play at Golden West College on Wednesday, January 11 at 5pm and at Irvine Valley College on Friday, January 13 at 7pm.
