SCC Defeats IVC for Another Road Win for the Hawks
The Hawks from Santiago Canyon College went on the road to Irvine Valley College and came away with a 69-59 victory on Friday Night.
The Hawks from Santiago Canyon College went on the road to Irvine Valley College and came away with a 69-59 victory on Friday Night. SCC is now 12-6 overall on the season and sits in second place in the Orange Empire Conference with a record of 4-2. The Hawks came out strong against IVC and established their offensive flow and defensive game plan. SCC connected on 5 of 13 three-pointers in the first half and held a 30-24 edge. They held IVC to 9 for 28 from the floor and limited their scoring opportunities.
SCC played well in the second half and built a 19 point lead which was insurmountable for the Lasers to overcome. They limited Irvine Valley to 4 for 17 from beyond the arc and forced 13 turnovers in the game. SCC once again had balanced scoring with four players in double digits. Aaron Wadman scored 18 points, Kai Smith had 17 points, Harrison Wiese added 13 points, and Isaiah Arthurton chipped in with 11 points. Adam Holod led the way in rebounding with 7 total boards. SCC's defensive pressure was the difference in the game as they converted turnovers into points.
Santiago Canyon will be back in action this coming week as they take on Cypress College and Orange Coast College. Both games will be at home with a start time of 6:00pm. SCC will play Cypress on Wednesday, January 18 and Orange Coast on Friday, January 20.
