SCC Cruises Past Golden West College

Santiago Canyon College entered tonight's game with a repeat on their mind. Earlier in conference play, the Hawks had defeated Golden West at their place and they were looking to get another win over the Rustlers. SCC accomplished their goal and defeated Golden West by the score of 103-62. In a high scoring affair, the Hawks shot 50% from the field and held Golden West to 33.9%. SCC is now 15-10 on the season and 7-6 in conference play.
SCC jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in this contest. The Hawks were paced in scoring in the first half by Aaron Wadman with 12 points and Kai Smith with 10 points. Zach Ibbetson also contributed 9 points. For the half, the Hawks connected on 9 of 19 from the three-point line and 7 for 9 from the free throw line. The score at intermission was 52-28 in favor of SCC.
The second half was much the same as the Hawks scored in transition early and often. They outscored Golden West 51-34 in the second half. 5 Players scored in double digits for SCC. Wadman finished with 21 points. Adam Holod continued his solid play off the bench with 14 points. Harrison Wiese and Smith tallied 12 points apiece and Dane Kiefer rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 points. Wadman led the team in rebounding with 9 boards.
The Hawks will look to build upon this game's momentum as they host Irvine Valley on Friday, February 10th. Tip-off is set for 6:00pm. SCC is in the middle of the 5 team race for 2nd place in the Orange Empire Conference. The remaining 3 games are crucial for a playoff berth and seeding purposes.
