Men's Basketball Dominates in Second-Straight Win
It was smooth sailing for the #9 Santiago Canyon College men's basketball team as they hosted the Los Angeles Harbor College Seahawks on Friday night. Five players scored in double digits as the Hawks cruised to a 90-61 victory.
The win marked the Hawks' second-largest margin of victory this season, a dominant 29-point spread. Earlier in the season, they defeated San Diego Miramar by a commanding 51 points.
Leading the charge was sophomore Tony Colley, who scored 16 points. He knocked down two three-pointers and contributed five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. This marked his sixth consecutive game with 10 or more points and his 12th such performance of the season.
Freshman EJ Bryson and sophomore Trevor Manning each added 13 points. Bryson also tallied four assists, five rebounds, and one steal, while Manning contributed seven rebounds and blocked one shot.
Freshman Colin Weems took control early for the Hawks, finishing with 12 points and hitting two three-pointers in the process.
Off the bench, freshman Efe Gucoglu led the second unit with 10 points, all of which came in the second half. Gucoglu went 4-for-7 from the field, including two three-pointers.
As a team, the Hawks shot just over 50 percent from the floor, including 39.3 percent from beyond the arc. They forced the Seahawks into 20 turnovers and turned those into 32 points. Additionally, the Hawks' defense was suffocating, allowing only one player from Los Angeles Harbor to score more than eight points.
