After a draw in their first meeting, the Santiago Canyon College men's soccer team hit the road to face off against the Santa Ana College Dons on Friday afternoon. The Hawks jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by scoring in the first three minutes, but four unanswered goals from the Dons handed the Hawks a 4-1 loss.
Freshman forward Diego Rivera fired home the first score in the third minute of action to grant immediate momentum to the Hawks. However, the Dons knotted up the game at one-all just two minutes later.
From then on, it was all Dons. Santiago Canyon was unable to match one more goal in the first half, backed by two more Don's goals in the second half leading to the defeat.
SCC fired off seven shots with a mere two landing on target. Rivera, freshman forward Ivan Pena and freshman forward Jorge Garcia Cruz uncorked two shots each, while freshman midfielder Andrew Marentes tried his leg once.
Sophomore goalkeeper Juan Pablo Alvarez was tabbed with the loss while allowing four goals and only saving a pair of shots.
