Sophomores Jorge Garcia Cruz, Rene Coello, Miguel Segovia and Vince Corral played their final game for the Santiago Canyon College men's soccer team on Thursday evening as they hosted the Saddleback College Bobcats in the final Orange Empire Conference (OEC) contest of the season. All four were honored for their dedication to the program prior to the contest.
The Hawks battled to tie the score at two-all in the first half, but were unable to break through leading to a 5-2 defeat.
After two quick goals from the Bobcats, the Hawks flew back to score two netters of their own. Freshman midfielder Andrew Marentes poked a ball past the goalkeeper in the 27th minute to get things going. Freshman forward Hudson Dare hammered home the game tying score in the 30th minute on a beautiful through ball from Garcia Cruz to bring the score to two all.
However, three unanswered goals from the Bobcats handed the Hawks the loss.
Freshman goalkeeper Omar Jarrar (1-3-0) was tabbed with the loss despite a career-high eight saves.
Dare led the team with three shots, backed by two each from freshman forward Ivan Pena and Garcia Cruz.
