Men’s Volleyball Wraps Up Season against Golden West
The Santiago Canyon men's volleyball team hosted the Golden West College Rustlers in their final match of the season on Friday night. The Hawks battled and made it a very competitive third set, but ultimately fell in three straight sets with scores reading 25-18, 25-17 and 25-23.
Freshman Jonathon Guerrero led the team on the offensive front by hammering home six kills on 14 attempts. Freshman Jaden Phillips followed with five kills, while freshman tandem CJ Hustedt and Josiah Saldana pocketed four kills each. Hustedt led the team with 22 attempts.
Sophomore Ryan Dickson manned the backline on both the service and defensive front. He lofted up a season-high three aces, while defending for nine digs. Freshman Ian Nelson and Saldana recorded four digs in support.
Nelson was the gear to the offense as he led with 13 assists. Sophomore Jonathan Chavez Calderon backed him with six assists. Freshman Josh Gregorec defended the net leading to a pair of solo stuffs and a block assist.
The Hawks finished the season with one win and will miss out on postseason play. They finished with an overall record of 1-18 with a winless conference clip at 0-8.
