Mt. SAC Invitational (Friday, October 14, 2022)
On Friday, October 14th, the SCC Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams competed within a field of 18 community colleges at the Mt. SAC Invitational held on the Mount San Antonio College campus in Walnut.
The SCC Lady Hawks placed 9th overall within the women's team field as they recorded wins over Cerro Coso, Cuyamaca, College of the Desert, East Los Angeles, Fresno City, Fullerton, Imperial Valley, Pasadena City, and San Diego Southwestern. Freshman Pyper Slattery (20 minutes 18 seconds) and sophomore Kassie Machado (21 minutes 21 seconds) led the way for the Lady Hawks as they placed 16th and 28th respectively within the field of 92 competitors. Elizabeth Ramirez (79th place, 27:21), Lourdes Pantaleon (86th place, 28:58), and Selah Darden (89th place, 30:30) completed the team scoring for the Lady Hawks.
On the men's side, the Running Hawks placed 11th overall as they recorded wins over Cerro Coso, College of the Desert, East Los Angeles, Fresno City, Imperial Valley, Oxnard, and San Diego Southwestern. Sophomore Jesus Retiguin (22 minutes 47 seconds) led the way for the Running Hawks as he placed 26th overall within the field of 125 runners. Freshmen Evan Aguilera (63rd place, 24:22), Johan Espejo (67th place, 24:31), Jacob Hallahan (110th place, 28:26), Erik Cano (115th place, 29:34), and Chris Flores (121st place, 31:04) completed the team scoring for the Running Hawks.
The SCC Cross Country Teams will next compete on Friday, October 28th, at the Orange Empire Conference Championships hosted by Santa Ana College at Central Park in Huntington Beach.
