Hawks Take Second Game from Dons

The Santiago Canyon College Softball Team defeated district rival, Santa Ana College yesterday with a 5-0 victory. The win now puts SCC up 2-0 in the series against the Dons and brings their overall record to 14-7 and 7-1 in OEC play keeping the Hawks in first place.  Mystique Rocha was dominant on the mound throwing a complete game shutout. She had a no hitter through six innings before surrendering two hits in the bottom of the 7^th inning. She struck out 9 Santa Ana hitters on the way to her 14^th win of the season.

The Hawks were able to push one run across in the top of the 5^th inning. Alyssa Enriquez drove a base hit into left field that allowed Amiah Rivas to score. Rivas had reached on a Don fielding error and advanced to second on a stolen base before scoring.  

In the bottom of the 7^th inning, the Hawks extended their lead with another 4 runs. Rivera and Alyssa Enriquez reached on back to back singles followed by a Catcher's Interference call allowing Liliana Navarro to reach base. With the bases loaded, Cozette Zoch drove a bases clearing double down the left field line. The Hawks final run came after Samantha Villanueva reached safely on a base hit that moved Zoch to third base. Villanueva then stole second base, allowing Zoch to score on the throw.
