Lou Simon Named Hawk's Head Softball Coach
The Santiago Canyon College athletic department is proud to announce the hiring of Louis C. Simon as its new Head Softball Coach. With an impressive background that bridges elite-level athletics and program development, Simon brings a unique blend of leadership, innovation, and coaching excellence to the Hawks' softball program.
We are pleased to welcome Lou into the SCC family and look forward to him restoring our softball program to prominence once again," said Dean and Athletic Director Martin Stringer. "He impressed us very much during the interview process and we are confident he has the skills and experience to help our student-athletes to be successful in the classroom and on the diamond."
Simon most recently served as the Head Softball Coach at Beckman High School, where over six seasons he transformed the program into one of Southern California's most competitive teams. Under his leadership, Beckman secured three division titles and made six consecutive postseason appearances, including quarterfinal and semifinal finishes.
In addition to his high school success, Simon is the founder and President of Game Ready Enterprises, where he launched the first collegiate softball summer league of its kind in California. The league, established in 2021, focuses on both physical performance and mental health development. Today, it stands as one of the most recognizable summer leagues in Southern California, training over 350 college athletes and helping numerous players advance their careers through recruitment and transfer opportunities.
"I am proud to be welcomed to the Santiago Canyon College Hawks family as their Head Softball Coach," said Simon. "The program has a rich tradition of success on and off the field and my goal is maintain that tradition and provide our student-athletes with all of the tools to succeed on the field, in the classroom, and in life, so that they can utilize those tools in their daily, weekly, and lifelong pursuits."
Simon will take over a program that has been dormant for one season after multiple coaching changes. In 2024, the Hawks went 13-27 with a 6-15 record in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action. The Hawks look to regain their dominant shape since winning the 2016 3C2A State Championship under former Head Coach Lisa Camarco.
Simon is a proud father, husband of 27 years, and father to a college softball player currently attending the University of Central Florida.
