The Santiago Canyon College athletic department has announced that Danielle Stallings has been appointed as the head coach of its softball program, effective Monday, September 30.

"Danielle was outstanding as a Hawk softball student-athlete and represented our program with distinction," said Dean and Athletic Director Martin Stringer.  "She has also served in an assistant coaching role demonstrating her ability to lead our program with her knowledge, passion, and commitment. We have no doubt she will be a positive role model and outstanding coach for our softball student-athletes."

Stallings will take the helm of the storied Hawks' softball program after serving as an assistant coach since July 2022. She acted as the pitching coach and strength & conditioning coach during her tenure as an assistant under former head coaches Lisa Camarco and Brandice Cutspec.

"I am very excited to be named head coach at Santiago Canyon College," said Stallings.

As a former player in the Hawk's softball program, Stallings has set ambitious goals for the upcoming season.

"My goal for this season is to create a competitive team where our student-athletes can learn, compete and take their talents to the next level. I look forward to creating successful student athletes, to encourage success in future career paths."

Stallings has implemented bullpen and practice plans for the pitching staff to ensure quality performances and longevity throughout the season. Last season, she managed a pitching staff featuring sophomore Madison Lee and freshman Nadeen Kerdiya, who together achieved a combined 13 wins with an ERA just below 4.00.

A former standout for the Hawks in 2018, Stallings was recognized as one of the strongest pitchers in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC). She started 17 games, earning a 14-5 record with a 2.78 ERA, and recorded 42 strikeouts while averaging just under three per game. She also notched two saves and pitched a total of 123.1 innings.

Stallings went on to transfer to Stanislaus State and later played for the University of Redlands Bulldogs. During her time with the Bulldogs, she was named the 2021 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Pitcher of the Year, made the All-SCIAC First Team (2021), and the All-SCIAC Second Team (2022). She earned Division III Pitcher of the Year honors twice and was recognized as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete in 2018.
