The Hawks were punished for not capitalizing on their early dominance, by a late penalty away at Cypress College. It was the first defeat for SCC in the regular season for over 2 years, since a 2-0 reverse against Orange Coast in September 2017.
The Hawks started strongly with Courtney Carbajal, Brianna Diaz and Kendra Koerth all going close, but Emily Diplock, in goal for SCC, also had to be alert when Cypress countered.
The second-half became a first-ball, second-ball game, and the home team got the break-through with 5 minutes to go, scoring from the penalty spot to secure the points.
In truth it was not good enough from the Hawks, but the team get to go again at 3pm this coming Friday, October 11th at home to Irvine Valley College. Thanks to all those who came out to cheer the team on today.
