?Two goals in the first fifteen minutes by Alyssa Rubio were enough to send the Hawks on their way to victory against the visiting Golden West College from Huntington Beach.
Santiago Canyon looked hungry from the first whistle and as the game progressed, only some brave goal-keeping by the Golden West keeper kept the Rustlers in the contest.
On twelve minutes, some sharp interplay involving Maya Little, Summer Stewart, and Nikki Marino set up Rubio for a strike from distance that soared in to the top corner. Rubio was on hand again two minutes later to head home a far-post cross from Marino to give the hosts a two goal cushion at the break.
The Hawks continued to dominate in the second period with Little, Camryn Toole and Keyla Fragoso all seeing shots well saved.
Zaydee Solis collected the shut-out in goal for SCC.
Next up for the Hawks is a visit to Orange Coast College on Friday, October 22nd. Kick-off is at 3pm.
