The Hawks (16-1-1) entertained the visiting Fullerton College Hornets (7-8-2) in their last home game of league play on Friday afternoon.
Kylee Medlin opened the scoring from a serve by Jasmine Ferman just 4 minutes in to the contest. Some good goal-keeping kept SCC from adding to their tally further, denying both Ferman and Ally Gorsha with fine stops. The Hawks continued to threaten, and Summer Stewart set-up Alyssa Rubio for a powerful strike to double the lead just before half-time.
Santiago Canyon effectively sealed the victory 5 minutes after the break when Camryn Toole (pictured) headed a Rubio cross beyond the Hornets keeper. Fullerton pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining with a well-hit shot from distance. The Hawks had a fourth goal by HaiJay White disallowed for a handball in the build up and so settled for the 3-1 win.
Up next for the Hawks, as we enter the final week of Orange Empire Conference competition, is a visit to Cypress College on Tuesday, November 9th at 3pm.
Thanks go out to all those in attendance today.
