SCC entertained the visiting Southwestern College Jaguars on a warm Friday afternoon in Orange.
The Jaguars started well, and SCC struggled to find a rhythm early in the game, but it was the hosts who took the lead through Frida Vizcarra (pictured) at the mid-point in the half.
It was a stop and start game with lots of infractions, substitutions and multiple water breaks and it wasn't until the second period that the Hawks began to find a rhythm. On the hour, Alyssa Rubio won a penalty which Paige Winters converted to put the Hawks two goals up. Kristen Smick hit the post before Sheila Sanchez and Leila Luna wrapped up the 4-0 win in the late stages. Savanna Prado was rarely troubled in goal, and collected the shut-out.
Thanks to all those who braved the heat to cheer on the Hawks. Up next is a visit from Northern California powerhouse San Joaquin Delta on Sunday, September 4th. Kick-off is at 11am.
