In the heat of the California sun, the Hawks beat visiting Golden West College 4-0 with goals from Ally Gorsha (pictured), Alyssa Rubio, Paige Winters and Kristen Smick.
A hard-working and resilient Rustlers team kept the Hawks at bay for long periods in the first half, with the home team unable to convert possession in to clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities. Gorsha broke the deadlock around the 40 minute mark, with a first-time left-footed shot from the top of the box off of a feed from Rubio.
SCC doubled the lead within the opening minute of the 2nd half as Camryn Toole found Rubio who rifled home. Good work from Nikki Marino created the opportunity for Winters to convert on the hour, before Kristen Smick closed out the scoring with twenty minutes left on the clock.
Savanna Prado collected the shut-out in goal, The Hawks now prepare for their next Orange Empire Conference match-up away to Fullerton College on Friday, September 30th. Kick-off is at 3pm.
Thanks go out to all those who braved the heat today.
