The predatory instincts of Sheila Sanchez (pictured) proved to be the difference in an intriguing contest at Santiago Canyon College.
After 75 minutes, Camryn Toole's mazy run found a way through the Fullerton backline, and the ball rebounded back from the post for Sanchez to follow-in and make the score 2-0.
The Hawks had dominated proceedings from the off, but a series of goal-mouth scrambles, some good goalkeeping and the frame of the goal kept the Hawks out.
It was more of the same in the second- period, with Nikki Marino hitting the cross bar, and Cassie Lewis having a header disallowed for offside.
However, on 64 minutes, Marino drew the foul inside the goal-box, that allowed her to convert for the game's opening goal.
Sanchez made it 2-0 ten minutes later, and Fullerton clawed a goal-back with a late penalty.
