There was a great turn-out for the Hawks opening contest of the season under the lights at Santiago Canyon College.
Two goals from Kristen Smick (pictured) set the Hawks on their way to a convincing victory over the hard-working San Bernardino Wolverines.
The first score came in the 2nd minute of the game with Smick arriving late to connect with an Alyssa Marino cross. Marlene Ruiz doubled the lead in the 39th minute with Marino grabbing the third just before the half-time from an Aubrey Bryant corner.
It was more of the same after the break, with Smick on target for her second of the night with a low drive across the keeper. Megan Llopis then latched on to a Jordan Salinas through-ball to score the 5th . Bryant closed out the scoring direct from a corner with 5 minutes remaining as the entire squad saw time on the field. Keepers Krystal Maxey, Grayton Normand and Brittany Hazelton shared minutes to collect the shut-out.
Next up for the Hawks is a road trip to Southwestern College on Friday, September 1st. Kick-off is at 1pm.
Thanks go out to all the local community soccer players and families who came out for this evening's game as well as RSCDD.
