A low drive on six minutes from Jordan Salinas set the Hawks on their way to a 3-0 victory over a resilient and hard-working Bakersfield team. Just two minutes later, some good combination play on the edge of the penalty opened up an opportunity for Giovanna Diaz to slide in Kristen Smick who converted from close range. The Hawks continued to dominate but struggled to create clear-cut openings, and so went in to the half time break two goals up.
SCC pushed for a third from the beginning of the second period and it came 10 minutes in to the half through Alyssa Marino, who rose highest to head home at the far post from an Aubrey Bryant serve. The Hawks closed out the game comfortably to move to 4-1-1 ahead of the beginning of Conference play next week.
SCC will start on the road at Santa Ana college on Tuesday, September 26th. Kick-off is at 3pm
Thanks to all those in attendance today for coming out and cheering on the Hawks.
