Women’s Soccer Supports Community Events Prior to Conference Play

The Santiago Canyon College women's soccer has been performing well on the pitch while giving back to their community all at the same time. Over this past weekend, the Hawks were seen at the Susan G. Komen "More Than Pink" Walk in Huntington Beach and held a special soccer clinic for the less fortunate.  

On Sunday, the Hawks, alongside College President Dr. Jeannie Kim and Cynthia Hanna, participated in the Susan G. Komen "More Than Pink Walk" in Newport Beach. The More Than Pink Walk provides an opportunity for breast cancer awareness, including research, information on the the importance of support and services and much more. After celebrating the "Survivors and Thrivers" and raising $620,000 prior to the start of the event, the SCC representatives walked the two-mile route to the celebrations at the finish line. 

On Friday, the team joined local players from the Top Dawgs team in Placentia for a soccer clinic. TOPSoccer is a community-based recreational program specifically designed to help athletes with physical and mental disabilities participate in soccer. Members from the Hawks team guided the players through a series of soccer activities, before scrimmaging together at the end. A good time was had by all.
