The Santiago Canyon College women's soccer team faced off against the state's top-ranked Cypress College Chargers for the first time since the 2023 3C2A Southern Regional Championships. Both teams were active on the offensive front with nearly an equal number of attempts on goal, but neither team successfully finished the job leading to a scoreless draw.
The Hawks nearly broke through halfway through the first half as sophomore Ashley Aguilar banged a header passed the outstretched Cypress keeper. However, she was deemed offsides negating the goal and leaving the contest at 0-0 entering the second half.
The Hawks fired off 10 shots to Cypress' 12 with sophomore Jaqueline Arroyo leading the way with three. Sophomore Scarlett Serpas nearly gave the Hawks the lead late in the second half, but it traveled over the crossbar by mere inches. Sophomore tandem Jordyn Lamastra and Samantha Aguila fired off two attempts as well.
The Chargers hit the post twice and the crossbar once, but sophomore goalkeeper Grayton Normand (7-2-3) kept them off the scoreboard leading to six saves; her second largest outcome.
