Bio

Head coach Ian Woodhead and the SCC coaching staff have guided the Santiago Canyon Hawks to sixteen Orange Empire Conference Championships dating back to 2004. The 2022 Orange Empire Conference Champions finished the season 19-2-2.  The 2019 Hawks finished the season as Back-to-Back State Champions with a 19-3-2 record. In 2018, SCC finished the season with a perfect 24-0 record. The Hawks have been to the State Final Four ten times in the last fourteen years, also winning in 2009. The Hawks won the first State Championship in the college's history in 2006 and have been crowned Academic State Champions in 2005, 2006, 2010 and 2012.

Santiago Canyon College were named 2022 Orange Empire Program of the Year. Woodhead and his staff were named National Staff of the Year in 2019 and 2018 and Woodhead was Southern California Coach of the Year in 2018, 2017, and 2016​. He was  'Orange Empire Conference Coach of the Year' in 2018, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004 and 2002. Woodhead also won the 'Faculty Excellence Award' for Santiago Canyon College in 2007, and was a Nominee for Orange County Community College Teacher of the Year in 2010. In addition, Woodhead has won a Community College State and National Championship (1999), two West-Coast Regional State ODP Championships (1999, 2005) and 2 C.I.F Championships (1996, 2000) in his coaching career.  In 2000 he was named CIF Division 3 Coach of the Year. 

Woodhead has been involved in Coaching Education for over 25 years, conducting local license certifications for coaches. Woodhead earned his USSF A License in 1995 and has been working as a USSF National Coaching License Instructor since 2009. He holds a Master's degree in Education (emphasis Physical Education), a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology.

Woodhead and his wife Katja have two children Malena and Lucas.
