The Santiago Canyon College women's volleyball team got off to a strong start against the Riverside City College Tigers on Friday night, winning the first set 25-20. Despite their early momentum, the Hawks faced a relentless Tiger offense, ultimately succumbing to three consecutive set losses and finishing the match in four sets.
Sophomore Chelsea Riedel led the charge for Santiago Canyon with an impressive 24 kills, achieving a .234 kill percentage. This marked her fourth match of the season with 20 or more kills.
Sophomore Sophie Zignliski contributed with seven kills, while freshman Riley Bingel added five kills and three blocks, providing solid support at the net.
Setting the tone for the offense, sophomore Peyton Speakman continued to shine, recording 33 assists—her fourth match with 30 or more assists. She also notched a team-high 15 digs and contributed a block, demonstrating her versatility on the court.
