Biola Invitational
On Friday, September 10, The Santiago Canyon College Cross Country Teams opened their 2021 season at the Biola University Invitational held at Craig Regional Park in Fullerton.
The men's team placed 17th within the field of 24 university and community college programs as they earned victories against community college rivals East Los Angeles, Pasadena City, San Diego City, and Imperial Valley as well as university opponents Loyola Marymount, Hope International, and Marymount California. The Running Hawks were led by freshman Joshua Maguire who place 133rd in the field of 209 competitors and recorded a time of 29 minutes 38 seconds for the 8,000 meter course. Jesus Retiguin (147th place, 29:58), Nathan Fisher (149thplace, 29:59), Brandon Dominguez (175th place, 31:29), Mason French (183rd place, 32:05), andGrant Mainville (192nd place, 33:41) rounded out the scoring unit for the Running Hawks.
The Lady Hawks were represented by individual finishers Kassie Machado and Annelise Castillowho placed 98th and 122nd overall. Machado recorded a time of 22 minutes 36 seconds for the 5,000 meter course, while Castillo completed her race in a time of 29 minutes 23 seconds.
