SCC Cross Country-Orange Empire Conference Championships
On Friday, October 29th, The Santiago Canyon College Cross Country Teams competed in the Orange Empire Conference Championships held at Clark Regional Park in Buena Park.
The SCC men's cross country team finished out their regular season by placing 5th overall in the Orange Empire Conference and earning a team qualifying berth into the Regional Championships. The Running Hawks were led by freshman Nathan Fisher who placed 33rd and recorded a time of 24 minutes 30 seconds over the 4-mile men's course. Nick Villalobos (42nd place, 25:08), Jesus Retiguin (47th place, 25:38), Brandon Dominguez (51st place, 26:21), Joshua Aguilera (52nd place, 26:26), and Mason French (61st place, 29:37) rounded out the scoring unit for the Running Hawks.
The Lady Hawks were represented in the competition by a freshmen duo of individual competitors. Kassie Machado earned "All-Orange Empire Conference" honors as she led the way for the Lady Hawks with her 10th place finish in a time of 22 minutes 46 seconds over the hilly 5,000 meter women's course. Lourdes Pantaleon placed 24th overall with a finish time of 27 minutes 49 seconds.
The Hawks cross country program will next compete on Friday, November 5th, at the Southern California Regional Championships held at Mile Square Regional Park in Fountain Valley.
