San Diego Cross Country Kick-Off
On Friday, September 2nd, the SCC Hawks Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams opened their 2022 season by competing within a field of 7 colleges at the San Diego Cross Country Kick-Off co-hosted by Cuyamaca College and San Diego City College at Harry Griffen Regional Park in San Diego.
The SCC men's team placed 4th and finished ahead of the squads from San Diego City, San Diego Southwestern, and Imperial Valley. The Running Hawks were led by sophomore Jesus Retiguin (11th place) and freshman Johan Espejo (17th place). The freshmen trio ofEvan Aguilera (22nd place), Jacob Hallahan (32nd place), and Erik Cano (37th place) rounded out the Top-5 scoring unit for the Hawks.
The SCC Lady Hawks ran an incomplete squad in this first race of the season, but were led by a pair of Top-10 individual finishers in freshman Pyper Slattery (4th place) and sophomore Kassie Machado (8th place). Also competing for the Lady Hawks was freshmanSelah Darden (28th place).
The SCC Hawks Cross Country Teams will next compete this Friday (September 9th), at the Vanguard Invitational hosted by Vanguard University at Irvine Regional Park in Orange.
